Glowing at the Globes 2013

Movies and television provide us a ticket to a vast world where anything is possible… even peeing next to James Marsden! Yes readers, I have had another encounter with the famous and fabulous in a Hollywood men’s room. You may recall my recent restroom run-in with Adam Levine at the 2012 Golden Globes and now a year later here I was washing up next to the Cyclops himself at one of the entertainment industry’s biggest nights, the 70th Annual Golden Globe Awards. But I’m getting ahead of myself.

It started with a 7am wake-up call in my Vegas hotel room. Having just had a couple nights sleep from my night of partying in Sin City (No details what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas), all I wanted in the world was to shut my eyes and go back to sleep, but when the caller on the other end of the phone reminded me it was Sunday, January 13th, I shot out of bed. So much to do! I had to get my hair done, grab my swankiest suit, and rent a car to race across the desert to LA. I made it to the Beverly Hilton just in the nick of time to hit the red carpet, where there was no shortage of beauty and champagne as the sun started to set on the Hollywood Hills.

I stood in my designated area as Ryan Seacrest, ushered by with a huge team of people to start his red carpet Pre-show. Over the next hour, I gawked at one A-lister after another: Julianne Moore, Mario Lopez, Adele and so many more. Most just whisked by right but a few stars stopped and chatted with us. I had the pleasure to ask Jennifer Lawrence “How does it feel to be distinguished as one of Hollywood’s newest and most talented actress?” She nervously chuckled and thanked me for the compliment, then responded with “I just do what I love.” And now I love her even more.

Soon, I made my way inside the theater, where Tina Fey and Amy Poehler came out to start off the show. Between their one-line zingers and hilarious commentary, no one could keep a straight face. My favorite joke of the night was “Quentin Tarantino is the star of all my sexual nightmares.” Later in the night, I cheered as my new BFF (whether she knows it or not) Jennifer Lawrence won Best Actress. Full of happiness and one too many cocktails, I made my way to the men’s room, where I mentioned before I had the honor of using the urinal next to the gorgeous James Marsden (and no readers, I didn’t peek). I washed my hands, and returned to my seat just in time to watch the Best Picture award go to Argo!

Now it was the time for my favorite part of the night, the after parties. First stop, the NBC after-party where the Saturdays preformed live, I got to meet Kate Hudson, Helena Bonham Carter and Hugh Jackman. After that, I reached a sugar high bliss after engorging myself at the decadent Godiva chocolate table. I ended my night at the Weinstein party where I got to meet Ben Affleck (still glowing from his best director win). Vanessa Williams and the cast of GIRLS rubbing elbows with the best in Hollywood was an incredible start for 2013. Sure glad the Mayans were wrong about their predictions for 2012 and the sky didn’t really fall.

Golden Globes 2012

The champagne is flowing, the red carpet is steamed, and everyone is ready to catch a glimpse of the who’s who at the 2012 golden globes…. Including ME! Yes, I had the privilege of attending this year’s Golden Globes. The prestige of the ceremony was great, but it’s absolutely nothing compared to the awe I experienced rubbing elbows with the rich and fabulous at the various after parties. Imagine it, celebrities everywhere. Kim Kardashian at one table having a drink with Idina Menzel, George Clooney snapping a photo with Madonna, all of them enjoying the great music, the open bar, and some of the most FANTASTIC food on Earth. Hollywood’s crème de la crème are here, and they are starving! You see an awards show is much like a glamorous but very stressful six hours of non-stop work with no food in sight. From the moment you step out of your limo and onto the red carpet the nation’s eyes are on your every move. You can’t be caught on camera munching on a steak. So when these parties start, everyone runs to the food stations like a pack of starving orphans, and in the middle of all this madness, was a very hungry Sarah Michelle Gellar. I had overheard her say she needed a table and couldn’t find a vacant one in sight. This was my chance to help out my childhood idol. Buffy herself needed somewhere to sit, and I could be the one to help! I immediately sprang into action grabbed a security guard, and presented myself as Sarah Michelle Gellar’s assistant. I demanded he get her a table ASAP. The security guard quickly moved people along out of a nearby table, so she and her guests could occupy it. I told her the good news to SMG and she thanked me with a huge elated smile, and a hug. I thought the night couldn’t get any better, and then I made a pitstop in the restroom. As I headed towards a stall, the door swung open and Maroon 5’s Adam Levine stepped out right in front of me! In my head I quickly ran through a series bathroom-appropriate conversation starters, and what do I come up with? “Hey Adam, my friends say I’ve got the moves like Jagger too!” he looked perplexed while I just smiled, and eventually he laughed and asked, “oh really?” Wow, I thought, I may have just come across as the biggest dork alive, but I just made Adam Levine laugh! Man, I LOVE award show season!
